What this is

City Stakes is a game in two cities. Ilmara is a fictional city. Bengaluru is a game set in a real neighbourhood, Jayanagar, drawn from OpenStreetMap. In both, every company, bid, price, campaign, rank, statistic, person and event is simulated. Nothing in the game corresponds to real property, real advertising inventory or real investment of any kind.

Credits

Prices are shown in US dollars and a credit is what one dollar buys, but credits are an in-game currency with no monetary value outside the game.
They cannot be redeemed, exchanged or transferred for money or anything of value outside the game.
Real money buys credits and nothing else. It does not buy buildings, rank or outcomes. Spending needs a signed-in account; there is no free grant.
Prices are set by the game and calculated on the server. A purchase is complete when the payment provider confirms it.
Purchases are final except where a refund is required by law, or where credits were not delivered. Contact us and it will be sorted out.

Bids, auctions and screens

Every bid is public and final once placed.
A screen is held until outbid. When someone bids more for a screen you hold, it becomes theirs, and the credits you paid for it are not refunded. That is the game's rule, not a fault.
A building auction charges its winner when the hammer falls. If the winner cannot pay then, the auction is void and the building goes back to whoever held it.
The game's own simulated companies bid too, within limits the game sets.

Game points

Jobs in Bengaluru (deliveries, fares, bike-taxi runs) and the day's challenges pay game points. Points are not money and not credits: they buy nothing, cannot be exchanged, are kept on your device only, and are lost if you clear your browser's data.

Real places and businesses

Bengaluru's streets, buildings, parks, stations and named places come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence). A real business appears under its own name where OpenStreetMap maps it, and some can be entered. Everything inside is the game's: its layout, the goods (a trade's ordinary goods, never the business's menu or prices), its hours and its staff. Nothing is charged, nothing is ordered from the business, and nothing in the game says anything about the real business's products, service or people. None of them endorse, sponsor or are affiliated with City Stakes. If a place shown is yours and you would like it changed or removed, email us and it will be.

Brands shown in the city

Real company names and their published marks appear on advertising surfaces and on delivery riders, cabs and shop boards the way an out-of-home media mockup shows a campaign on real inventory. They are depicted, not participating. A mark is shown as its owner publishes it, never altered, and no slogan or claim is attributed to any company. None of them endorse, sponsor or are affiliated with City Stakes. If you own a brand shown here and would like it removed, email us and it will be removed.

What happens in the street is fiction

The game lets you crash, fight, take vehicles and be chased by the police. These are game mechanics in a simulated street. Nobody depicted is a real person, no real police force, hospital, emergency service or public body is represented or speaks through the game, and nothing in it condones doing any of this in the real world.

Numbers in the game are game numbers

The ILMARA 100 is a game metric derived from in-game activity. It is not a financial index, a security, or an instrument of any kind, and nothing about it is investment advice.
Modelled impressions are derived from the city's own model, not from counting people.
Measured impressions count players who were in front of a surface in the game. They are a game figure, not an audited advertising metric, and are never sold as one.

What you upload

You keep ownership of images you upload. You give us permission to store and display them within the city for as long as your screen or entry runs. You must have the right to use what you upload, and must not upload anything unlawful, hateful, sexual, or infringing someone else's rights. Anything that breaches this can be removed without notice.

Other players

Players near you see your character and your name. Be decent: names and uploads that harass or impersonate someone can be removed, and the accounts behind them may lose access.

Fair play

Do not attempt to manipulate rankings, competition standings or measured figures through automated clients or forged data. Accounts doing so may lose access. Ordinary play, including playing a great deal, is not abuse.

Availability

This is an evolving project. Features can change, and a city can be reset, rebalanced or taken offline. Where a change would remove credits you paid for, we will say so in advance.

Liability

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
